Serpelsa

Serpelsa Furs has spent over two decades working in tanning and finishing leather and other skins; their expertise is in working with rabbit furs and their techniques have made them pioneers of the international market.

The Jose Castro Studio has been hired to bring creativity and new finishes to the company’s own collection and have proposed the use of shaving, pattern and degrading processes to bring design innovation.

The Studio has also designed and coordinated the creation of prototypes for their own brand: the ‘Serpelsa by Jose Castro’ line from the Redrum collection, which was presented in MFW Cibeles in 2008.

kukuxumusu

The Jose Castro studio is a freelance collaborator with Kukuxumusu, a company whose name means ‘the flea’s kiss’ in Basque. They define themselves as the ‘drawing and ideas factory’ and their designs for t-shirts and other items use animals to demonstrate various ridiculous human habits.

The studio has been working with them since 2007 on an alternative line of products orientated towards ‘the fashionable’, creating men’s and women’s clothes that add a touch of extra design to the iconic Kukuxumusu images.

Siempresviernes

Siempresviernes is a Galician firm created in 2004 dedicated to women’s collections. Their philosophy is described by its slogan ‘Life is too short to dress sad’.

Under the name Siempresviernes by Jose Castro, the designer presents his ‘Do the Mix’ collection, clearly inspired by the eighties but not dictated by it. The fusion and intermingling of colour, volume and music offers a revision of one of last decades’ most ‘trash’ periods. A selection of accessories completes the risky look that dominated the era.

Gratacos

The Jose Castro Studio has been collaborating with the historic fabric store Gratacós since 2007. This company has dedicated itself to the production of high quality fabrics since the 1940s and has Barcelona’s Paseo de Gracia as its window display.

It served as a sponsor for the Dead Bird and Redrum collections which were presented in Paris and was a supplier for the piece that Jose Castro presented as Spain’s representative during the Maison de la Création conference.

Jose Castro, alongside other artists from Barcelona, develops new ways to display the designs on mannequins in the company’s catalogues, using without seams, each season’s new fabrics. He has also participated in specific store based events; such as the Jose Castro wedding dress exhibition during Barcelona Bridal Week and the creation of the ‘Sombrero loco’ character (the mad hatter) for the sixth edition of la Passejada Amb Barret.

The designer also created an exclusive bag as a gift item, based on a double concept that unites the handmade with the technical. It is a reversible bag, with one side showing various sewing utensils such as scissors and thimbles while the other resembles a word puzzle made out of different qualities and types of fabric.

Iris

The kitchenware company Iris, in collaboration with the JC Studio, has created a range of bags for transporting food; useful designs that have today’s practical, urban man or woman in mind who are looking for that touch of design in their everyday life. They merge ‘fashion’ with the ‘Take Away’ philosophy to create an elegant range of products with the logos of both the company and the designer.

Desigual

The Jose Castro Studio joins the Desigual creative team in 2004 to create a new brand concept. They have contributed to the men’s, women’s and children’s collections as well as their line of accessories. They are currently designing a biannual capsule collection for the women’s department to cater for each season’s new codes.

Tous

The Jose Castro Studio has collaborated on various occasions with this famous Catalan jewellery brand, both under their own name as well as on freelance collaborations.

The collection Tous by Jose Castro, created for Father’s day 2012, was inspired by material essence: wheels, screws, plastics and cardboard boxes all take on the house’s most classic forms in this masculine collection.
